1924 Hispano-Suiza H6C Tulipwood

THE MOST FAMOUS FRENCH CAR IN HISTORY

Coachwork by Nieuport

When considering a list of the greatest pre-war collectible cars of all-time, the spectacular Tulipwood Hispano-Suiza has to be among the top of the list.  Unquestionably it is the most famous and desirable Hispano-Suiza ever produced and an Automotive Work of Art. The ultra-lightweight, bespoke body was hand-crafted from tulipwood by Nieuport, maker of the 28 fighter plane used in dogfights during World War I. It was built on an H6C Boulogne chassis powered by an 8-litre, 45-hp, H6C engine. Andre Dubonnet commissioned the car from Nieuport and entered the car in the 1924 Targa Florio in Sicily. During the 1950s and 1960s the car was featured in numerous magazines, including Automobile Quarterly and appeared at CCCA events. It was also on display at the Henry Ford Museum in 1965 and at the New York Auto Show in 1969. In the 1980s the Tulipwood joined the Blackhawk Collection where it was carefully restored by noted classic car restorer Mike Fennel and was exhibited at the Blackhawk Museum for a short period of time. This sensational work of automotive art is available for the first time in three decades and sure to be the centerpiece of any collection around the world. Please do not miss this opportunity to acquire one of the most desirable cars ever built.
