1926 Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost Piccadilly Roadster

Chassis No. S272PL

Displayed at the 2016 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance

This is one of the last of the left-hand-drive Silver Ghosts that were built at the Rolls-Royce Springfield factory before the introduction of the New Phantom. By 1926, some Silver Ghosts cost an astonishing $16,000. They were offered in a range of standard designs, including the Pall Mall tourer, the Oxford seven-passenger tourer, the Mayfair town car and this Piccadilly roadster by Brewster. The Piccadilly was sporty than most Rolls-Royce motor cars of the late 1920s and was often ordered by fashionable playboys of the era. Around 80 Piccadilly roadsters were built on the Silver Ghost chassis between 1919 and 1926.

This car was delivered to its original owner, a Mr. WJ Upson of Bethel, ME with a Tilbury Sedan body. By the late 1950s the car was owned by Paul Rizzo in NY, who had a 1926 Packard roadster body put on the chassis which stayed together until this Piccadilly Roadster body was built leading up to the 2016 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. This Show Quality Silver Ghost was restored by Rolls-Royce Expert Fred Buess who along with Doug Chalmers, Bill Gathings and Robin Onsoien who are all very well-known for their work on world class automobiles.
