This magnificent Cord was purchased in 1974 by Jim Lawrence, of Lafayette, CA and owner of Walnut Creek Volvo.  Lawrence purchased the car from T. Kawakami of Berkeley, CA who had owned it since new.  Jim was mechanically savvy as he served as a worked as he served as machinist’s mate in the Navy at the end of WWII.  Jim went on to be a mechanic and salesman at this father’s Walnut Creek Chrysler-Plymouth dealership, his father beginning in 1921 as a Buick dealer, switching to Chrysler in the late ‘20s, Volvo in 1966.
