Czechoslovakia’s Aero Automobiles were produced in limited numbers for only ten years, ending in 1939 with the advent of World War II. This Model 50 was started before German occupation and finished under German control, as documented by the original logbook. The car is powered by a Tatra four-cylinder, two-cycle engine with front-wheel drive and four-wheel independent suspension.
This is one of two in existence and was given special treatment by the country’s leading coachbuilder, Josef Sodomka, whose initial “S” is prominently displayed on the rear fender skirts. It was in the United States, in completely original condition, from the late 1950s until restored in 1988. The car was reintroduced to the world for the first time in 50 years at the Pebble Beach Concours in 1990. This car is on the market for the first time in 30 years.
