1953 Dodge Firebomb

When the Chrysler Corporation decided not to put its Dodge Firearrow concept car into production, Detroit industrialist and entrepreneur Gene Casaroll bought the design and production rights from Chrysler through his Dual Motors Company.

 The Dodge Firebomb can accommodate four adult passengers; it has a full folding top with glass back window, and glass side windows. The Firebomb was the prototype for the limited production Chrysler-powered Dual-Ghia and it was introduced to Detroit’s automotive press corps on June 28, 1955 at the Grosse Pointe Yacht Club north of Detroit.

 104 Dual-Ghias were manufactured between 1956 and 1958 including two coupes with fiberglass hardtops; the price of the Dual-Ghia convertible was $7,646. The Dual-Ghia, named for Casaroll’s Dual Motors and Italy’s Ghia Coachbuilders, became a status symbol with the Hollywood set, and owners included Frank Sinatra, Debbie Reynolds, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr.
