This stunning 1958 Jaguar XKSS Recreation was fabricated by Shapecraft Classic Motor bodies in the UK, using an original short-nose D-Type wooden buck. The body is handmade using the traditional method of forming and rolling the body panels on the English wheel. Shapecraft are known for their meticulous work on original vintage cars and also their recreations of the Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagatos sanctioned by Aston themselves .The car was then assembled and finished by Jaguar specialists Phil and Oliver Cottrell in the UK.

The aluminum body is to original specification, having a front section, center monocoque tub and a rear section. All the body and interior panels have been riveted per the original car. Then an original windscreen frame was used as was the original Pilkington glass so that the correct shape was maintained. Correct XKSS bonnet louvres were made, headlight trim rings and front and rear alloy bumpers were custom made for the this body to maintain fit and finish .

The front engine chassis is a square tube steel space frame redesigned to take Jaguar A- arms, adjustable coil over suspension and the rear section designed to accommodate a rebuilt and upgraded Jaguar independent rear.

The engine is a fast road spec prepared rebuilt Jaguar 4.2 twin overhead cam 6 cylinder with triple 45 DCOE Webers, mated to a 4 speed jaguar box with quick-engage overdrive. Bench dyno gave an impressive 346 HP and 305RWHP on the road dyno.

A jaguar 4 speed box with quick engage overdrive puts the power down through a rebuilt Salisbury 3.07 power lock differential. Other performance enhancements include port matched intake, electronic ignition, full flow stainless exhaust manifolds, lightened flywheel and performance clutch with a performance release bearing.

Braking upgrades include Fosseway 6 pistons calipers, drilled and slotted rotors up front and jaguar onboard discs at the rear with parking calipers via a twin Willwood system with proportioning valve.

The car was concours painted in a triple black 2 stage paint, paired with a red Connelly leather interior with  matching red hardtop and a factory spec soft top made in mohair with an ash bow and original 4 lever top fasteners. A custom luggage rack takes care of the weekend luggage.

Original spec finished off with the correct period gauges switches and Moto-Lita 16 inch wooden D-Type wheel.
