A Member of the prestigious Cowboy Artists of America and the American Watercolor Society, Ray Swanson has enjoyed tremendous international response from art lovers, critics and collectors over the past 36 years of his highly successful career.
Swansons’s artistic beginnings were in the rural area of South Dakota, and he now resides in Arizona.
He has been called one of the masters of American art of all eras, honored with numerous top medals and awards in major art competitions and featured in magazine articles, book, and a documentary movie.
Considered to be one of this country’s most distinguished painters of Native Americans of the great Southwest – the Navajo, Hopi, Zuni and Apache Indians – Swanson reaches deep in the observation, striking the human and spiritual chord that binds all together.
Swanson was the recipient of the Catlin Peace Pipe award from American Indian Lore Association, in Logon, Ohio, the award honors the sensitivity in his art and his talent for portraying the resilience and survival of the Native American Culture.
